Just got this from the cmba newsletter - short notice.-
-------- ALL SEASONS TRAIL PLAN FOR WEST BRAGG CREEK
www.cmbalink.com
It's no secret that the existing trails around the West Bragg Creek
area are not great for mountain biking. They are most often muddy and rutted and are not terribly exciting for us bikers. The trails ended up this way mostly by design as the entire network was originally developed over 25 years ago as winter use only with a focus on cross country skiing.
The CMBA, in partnership with the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association
trails.braggcreek.ca/, Alberta Parks
www.tpr.alberta.ca/parks/default.aspx, SRD www.srd.alberta.ca/,
and other recreational and industrial user groups, are looking at the problems of the existing area and are working on a long term plan for the development of an all-seasonal, multi-use trail network centred on the West Bragg Creek day use area.
The committee has created a first draft of the plan that includes
proposals to bring certain existing winter trails up to summer use standards as well as proposals on a network of new summer use trails throughout the area.
The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association in partnership with Alberta Parks (Kananaskis Country) is hosting a public open house on a *Proposed All Season Plan for the West Bragg Creek Trail System* at the *Bragg Creek Community Centre* on *Thursday, Nov. 26th from 4 until 8 pm.* Everyone is
welcome. At the open house, you can see the planned all-season networks drawn out on maps, look over lists of trails that will be improved, and talk to committee members who took part in the planning process. Representatives from all different types of recreational and industrial user groups will be available to talk to. As mountain bikers, we need your input! Please come by and see our maps and ideas, and share your thoughts with us. We want to hear what you think! If you can't make it in person, we'll post links to the maps and draft plan once the GBCTA releases them, so keep an eye on the CMBA website www.cmbalink.com/node/344. You can forward any input to us via email or through the CMBA forum, and we will make sure it gets to the planning committee.
These are exiting times to be a mountain biker in Calgary! Great new things are happening in our future, and you can be a part of that and have your say! So speak up and tell us how we can make West Bragg one of the best mountain biking destinations in the Calgary area! See you all at the
open house...
