Hi Gals,
The Calgary camp for the Dirt Series this year will be on July 10-11, 2010.
I am working on getting permits to do the skill sessions and rides at Moose Mountain.
Any trail suggestions are welcome. I'm also looking trail guides, sweeps and shuttle drivers.
Thanks,
Janet

Update: Permits are all set. The skill sessions will be held in Bragg Creek and rides will be on Moose Mountain. Here's the official press release: MORE SKILLS. MORE FUN. HERE AT RIDLEY’S CYCLE. Imagine handling switchbacks with ease, approaching drops with confidence, and smiling at whatever climb or descent comes your way. Then imagine a weekend filled with incredible riding, great camaraderie, and top-notch instruction, and check out the Trek Dirt Series Women’s Mountain Bike Camp, coming to Calgary and Ridley’s Cycle July 10-11, 2010. The Dirt Series program has been running for nearly ten years, delivering professional instruction and super-fun times to over 5000 people. It teaches cross-country, freeride, and downhill techniques to beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Everyone is arranged into groups according to ability and interest, so no matter what your level, you can progress exactly as you’d like. Mornings are spent learning step-by-step skills, and afternoons incorporate those skills onto the trails. Saturday night features in-store instruction, maintenance clinics, bike set up opportunities, food, drinks, and prizes. The Trek Women Demo Team will be attending the event, so this is also a great opportunity to test out some of the newest and best bike technology around. If you’d like to love mountain biking more than ever before, this is your chance. If you’re interested in coming to camp, visit www.dirtseries.com to register soon. Over 50% of the past Trek Dirt Series participants were referred by their friends. If you know someone who would benefit from an experience like this, please pass the info on. In 2010, the Trek Dirt Series will offer fourteen women’s specific and two co-ed mountain bike skills camps in BC, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, and Colorado. The program is supported by Trek, Sugoi, Fox Racing Shox, Dakine, Luna, Bell, and a host of other fantastic sponsors. For more information, visit www.dirtseries.com. Hey Janet, Not sure if you saw my post on FB but I'll probably be able to help out for the Calgary weekend. I can shuttle and sweep. I don't know the trails well enough to be a guide but I'd like to help out. My hubby might be able to help out too but we'd have to trade off so that we can take care of the little one. Email me - rockdog at telus dot net - about the plans and I'll work to confirm that I'll be around that weekend. Rebecca

I hope everyone's spring is going well. Here's a quick update on the upcoming Trek Dirt Series camp coming up in Calgary on July 10-11, 2010. All the DH trails have been scouted out, 75% of the XC trails are done too. It's horrible having the job of going out and riding all the trails Trails will include: Brakeless, T-Dub, Jean-Guy on the Rocks, Toothless, Race of Spades, Special K, Pneuma, Elbow Valley trail (aka lower Sulfur Springs), Powderface - Prairie link, Ridgeback, and Moosepackers. Lots of variety and technical riding to work on! Registration is 60% full, so there is still room left if you want to register. We are working on finding some lunch sponsors at the moment...we are in communication with some businesses in Bragg Creek to provide some tasty lunches for the participants. Don't forget we will have some Demo Bikes from Trek as well. There will be bikes from XC to DH and everything in between.
