Hey this weekend we were camping in Kananasis for the first time since we've moved to Calgary. Man camping out there was fantastic. Even though i was feverish and sick the whole weekend it was phenominal. Im so game for camping the night next time we ride at moose!

So happy that others want to too!
On that same note does anyone know of warmer waters to go swimming in within our closer forests? Callie I think you mentioned one to me but I completely forget where you said.

Yeah, we were totally chatting about this in G-town this past w/e. The only campground that has services in K Country I believe is McLean Creek...is that where you guys stayed Maddy? Website: gateway.cd.gov.ab.ca/siteinformation.aspx?id=311Power sites $28/night, reservable online.

(although I'd love to hear what Callie says cause darn, do I miss swimming outside!)

We were camping in the sibbald area with no services or showers. But dudes for just a night or two of camping I was impressed with how little I needed camping services. The beachcomber was brighter using lanterns, lots of water in the tank and jugs, and propane fridge and stove was clearly a huge bonus for service free. But I did notice when shower time came, but just for a night or two it wasnt the biggest deal - just got creative. Though now now im all intrigued with the idea of portable outdoor showers. I'm sure i saw some zest commercials with outdoor showering looking outdoor fresh

Showering? There's a shower involved with camping? I thought the campfire was there to mask odours from not showering.
And same as Rebecca, this is Alberta...there isn't warm water for swimming. Almost all the water in Kananaskis is glacier fed. You are more than welcome to jump in, it doesn't hurt as much once everything goes numb.
p.s. I wear a full drysuit when kayaking.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your experience Maddy! Kananaskis has a lot to offer in terms of camping, hiking, biking etc. There are tons of areas to explore.
We've hiked a fair amount of the trails along HWY 40 and have yet to find a warm lake. Glacier run off is extremely cold but very refreshing after a long hike.
Joey and I are headed out to Mclean Creek this weekend, anyone can join if they want. We will be random camping around the Fisher West area.

Well Maddy I haven't done much "swimming" in Alberta, however, the swimming spot I was telling you about was a secret lake near Fernie! That's BC by the way
